Chapter 10: 16 pages out of...?

I'm writing a book...

I always wanted to write a book, so I am.

Here, you'll find updates as well as art of the characters and world I've written.

The story is mainly fantasy, mixed in with real experiences I had growing up between very different cultures, and the setting is based on places from my adolescent memories.

When I was much younger, I had selective mutism, so the main character also has this condition. In the end, will she be able to find her voice again?

1. He came at night, to steal.

The girl wakes up to the gentle fluttering of her bedroom curtains. There, standing at the opening of her window was a man she had never seen before.

His blue feather earring reflected the light of the moon outside as he approached. "Some people call me a thief, but I only take what's already being given away."

Through groggy eyes, she saw him reach for something from her chest, a faint glowing string attached to it. With a pull, it is severed from the girl.

"What will you do now? Will you let the emptiness consume you?"

2. The Map of where it begins

Here's a lil secret: I actually wanted to make a game, but since that would involve many more steps and skills (mainly coding tbh) I didn't yet have, I decided to write a story first.

That didn't stop me from attempting to visualize characters and places of course. Here's a map of the town the protagonist starts in (based on a real-life place huhu).

3. Food.

Food is such a cool (and tasty) cultural artifact. In the book I try to incorporate descriptions of food and drinks specific to a certain culture, while keeping the setting it's based on...intentionally vague.

It's still mainly a fantasy, after all.
